Spoiler alert: they\u2019re not just those things you <em>try<\/em> to do better in January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Habits are automatic behaviors triggered by specific cues.<\/strong><br>Whether it\u2019s grabbing your phone the second your alarm rings or reaching for a snack during your favorite Netflix show, your brain loves to run on autopilot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And here\u2019s the cool part \u2014 every habit follows a simple pattern known as the <strong>habit loop<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong>Cue<\/strong> (the trigger)<br> <strong>Routine<\/strong> (the behavior)<br> <strong>Reward<\/strong> (the payoff)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Understand this loop, and you\u2019ve basically hacked the operating system of your daily life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Stack \u2018Em Up!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Enter one of my favorite techniques: <strong>habit stacking<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This clever little trick involves piggybacking a new habit onto an existing one. Want to start stretching every morning? Do it right after you brush your teeth. Want to practice gratitude? Stack it onto your morning coffee routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the workshop, everyone identified a personal habit they wanted to work on \u2014 and we got stacking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>My New Habit Hack<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Since I always tell my clients that accountability is everything, I\u2019ll share mine too.<br>I\u2019ve been meaning to <strong>read more nonfiction<\/strong> (hello, growing book pile \ud83d\udc4b\ud83c\udffc) but never seemed to find the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I\u2019m now committing to <strong>one hour of nonfiction reading every week during a co-working session<\/strong>.<br>Same cue (co-working), new routine (reading), same reward (that \u201clook at me being productive\u201d feeling).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And because I shared it out loud in the workshop, guess what? People are going to ask me about it.<br>That\u2019s the magic of accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>The Big Takeaway<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Reinventing yourself doesn\u2019t always mean big, dramatic changes.<br><strong>It starts with one small habit at a time.<\/strong><br>Master the habit loop. Stack new habits onto old ones.
